BMW 100 years
Perhaps we should not so much emphasize the brand than its exaggeration. Because there are lots of manufacturers building dynamic cars that provide much 'joy of driving'. But no company with this intention has captured so successfully the emotions also many non-BMW drivers.
Only recently, the design can correspond. In the history BMW's and Italian design and workmanship did not harmonize very well, as you can see at the legendary M1. Earlier with the Isetta it was even better.
Apropos history: Of course BMW is currently not really 100 years old. In 1916 the company was established by a certain Gustav Otto, who was an aircraft pioneer, not very much interested in cars, although his father was the famous Nikolaus August Otto. It was his last company and in a state of bankruptdies, when BMW took over in 1922.

No, the blue and white propeller icon also does not help as explanation, because none of the both the companies were building aircrafts or its engines. The famous inofficial world record reaching an altitude of nearly 10.000 meters dates from 1919 in conjunction with another company. And the Boxer engine and the BMW R32 are from 1922/23.
But BMW celebrates not so much the past, but the next 100. And since the beginning of the electric decade convinces with really compelling visions as the i8. The newest design you see in the pictures. Perhaps most notable is the transition of the body to the lateral lattice structure, which seems to form a unit to the wheels, even to the operatble front ones. 03/16
